Capital Gymnastics Financial Scholarship

Supported by: Winton and Margaret Bear Trust

Capital Gymnastics is delighted to announce that with the support of the Winton and Margaret Bear Charitable Trust, we have Financial Scholarships (up to $500 per recipient) to be awarded in Term 3 of 2024.

The recipients of these Winton and Margaret Bear Charitable Trust scholarships will be any gymnasts at Capital Gymnastics whose families are in need of financial support. To be eligible for the scholarship the following criteria must be met:

  • The applicant has been a fully paid member of Capital Gymnastics for a minimum of 12 months (if not, please explain why).

  • The applicant and their family are active members of Capital Gymnastics and demonstrate strong support of the Club through fundraisers or volunteer opportunities.

  • The applicant is dedicated and displays a positive attitude in their training.

  • The applicant shows intention to set and reach goals in their gymnastics.

  • The applicant participates in club events when applicable.

  • The applicant is currently not receiving any other scholarship support.

  • The applicant needs financial support to maintain participation in gymnastics.

Conditions of the application and for the awarding process:

  1. The Financial Scholarship goes towards the gymnast’s fees for training at Capital Gymnastics. Costs such as affiliation, uniforms, and competition entry fees will be invoiced as usual.

  2. One child per family, can be applied for per term.

  3. Scholarships will be awarded per term and there should be no expectation that a scholarship will be ongoing

  4. Please note that due to the limited funds available to Capital Gymnastics for the remainder of 2024 from this Trust, scholarships will be more restricted than for previous terms.

To apply for the Winton and Margaret Bear Financial Scholarship, a letter outlining the ways the gymnast meets the above criteria is required. It is to be sent to committee@capitalgymnastics.nz.

The scholarship funds will be held by Capital Gymnastics and will be able to be used for immediate and future tuition costs. The number and value of scholarships awarded is at the discretion of the selection panel, and no single scholarship will exceed $500 per term. It is expected that the scholarship holders will complete the 2024 season and continue their gymnastics careers with Capital Gymnastics.

This round of applications will be open from June 21st 2024 and close on July 5th 2024. The announcement of the Term 3 2024 scholarship winners will be made via email by July 15th 2024 and will be confidential.
