Tumbling

Tumbling:

Tumbling utilises the floor and spring apparatus, including beatboards, mini trampolines, and tumble track. Gymnasts work with experienced coaches to develop rotation and air skills, learning to control their bodies as they move and rotate and land safely.

Levels Programme:

The Tumbling Levels Programme follows a carefully laid out progression system to encourage well-rounded development in tumbling. The focus is on correct skill development and on perfecting skills well enough to put skills into routines. This is for those who want more structure. Certificates are awarded as each level is attained.

Trampoline

Trampoline is a programme that covers the basics of trampolining, tumble trampoline, and double mini trampoline. Whether you're interested in learning for fun and safety on your backyard trampoline or aiming to develop advanced skills, this programme is for you. All classes are led by certified instructors who are also trained in first aid.

Adults

This class is for school leavers/adults (minimum age 18 and above).

Adult classes start with a structured warm-up that includes basic skills. This is followed by ‘free time’ to practice and learn any skills you like under the supervision of qualified instructors.

These classes are great for those who have a training regime in mind or want to learn or practice a specific skill. Due to the casual nature of the class, however, there is no structured training within this class.

These classes are run on Thursday nights 8-9:30 pm. Classes cost $15 or a 10-trip card is available for $120.

The adult class is run casually, so there is no need to enrol beforehand. Just show up a little before 8.00 pm. You are not expected to attend every week. Come when it suits you and your schedule.

To save yourself some time you can download the enrolment form below, fill it out and bring it with you.

Invitation only Classes

There are some classes at Capital Gymnastics that are invitation only, this is due to the level of commitment required for the safety of the child, when events are held, as well as programme requirements. If you have any questions please just ask at the office.

EXCEL Gymnastics

Formerly known as "Rec Comp," these classes are for gymnasts who show an invested interest in gymnastics and would like the opportunity to represent our club at recreational competitions throughout Wellington and the upper South Island.  The programme offers a similar environment to our national competitive programme, but without having to commit the time associated to the competitive classes.  The class focus is to learn routines for the competitions throughout the year, as well as upgrading their skills to progress to higher levels of competition.  The children in this programme must attend 1-2 classes per week and training continues throughout the year.  Gymnasts follow the Gymnastics New Zealand recreational competitive programme and compete against other gymnasts from similar programmes from different clubs.

Competitive Gymnastics

Capital Gymnastics offers competitive classes for both girls and boys from 5 years. Our programme is very successful, and our gymnasts are well-represented at Nationals. We also train several International gymnasts. Women’s Artistic Gymnastics (WAG) consists of four apparatus: floor routine, beam, vault and the uneven bars. Men’s Artistic Gymnastics (MAG) consists of six apparatus: floor exercise, pommel horse, rings, vault, parallel bars and horizontal bar.

Competitive Tumbling

Capital Gymnastics offers competitive tumbling for all ages. Our programme is designed to develop and nurture talent at both junior and senior levels. With a focus on skill development, strength, and technique, our gymnasts train under the guidance of experienced coaches. We provide a structured and supportive environment, helping athletes to reach their full potential and compete at national events. Capital Gymnastics is proud to offer competitive tumbling in the Wellington region, ensuring our athletes have access to top-tier training and opportunities to excel in this dynamic sport.

Note: Enrolment is by invitation only. Please contact the office for more information.
